6 Ways ChatGPT Can Boost Your Marketing Efforts

ChatGPT is the biggest tech development we’ve seen in a long, long time. It has the potential to be enormously disruptive. Here are some ways you can leverage the tool in your marketing efforts.

If you’re a marketer, you’ve surely heard the recent noise about ChatGPT. If you haven’t, it’s time for you to get up to speed.

ChatGPT is the biggest tech development we’ve seen in a long, long time. It has the potential to be enormously disruptive. It’s going to change how you work, how you use the internet, how you learn, but even replace some jobs.

While ChatGPT could impact our lives in multiple ways, it’s going to be especially game changer for marketing and content creation.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence to provide answers to questions in a conversational format. You can ask ChatGPT any question. It doesn’t matter what format the question is in, the bot spits out an accurate answer. The bot is able to understand and adjust to the users' direction. Even if you don’t like the answer, just provide more details and try again.

6 Ways You Can Use ChatGPT For Your Marketing

#1 Content Creation

GPT can be used to generate unique and engaging content for marketing campaigns, such as social media posts, email newsletters, and blog articles.

So, for example, you could ask it "Give me 20 ideas for articles about lead generation."

What’s even more fascinating is it’s not only good at giving you content ideas but also giving you a first draft for your content. You could ask ChatGPT "Write me an article about social media trends in 2022"

This is a great way to get the first draft of your work. I would definitely not recommend to use the draft it generates, but rather, you can use it as a baseline for your final draft.

Here are just some commands to try out to create your next content piece:

  1. A list of 5 blog post titles

  2. A list of 10 sub topics

  3. A list of 10 talking points

  4. A list of educational blog titles to attract my ideal customer

  5. An educational post to attract my ideal customer

  6. A list of 10 interview questions for a potential customer

  7. A list of 10 interview questions for the creator of the product

  8. A list of 10 steps the customer should take to have success

  9. A list of 10 FAQs

  10. A list of 10 positive affirmations to encourage my ideal customer

#2 Market Research

You can use it to gather research, notes, insights and feedback. This could be especially useful for informed marketing strategies and decision-making.

Google is a primary source of information when doing any sort of research but now you have another amazing tool to use.

For example, you might ask ChatGPT, "What questions should I be asking when doing research on the history of advertising?"

Here are just some commands you can try out for your research:

  1. Can you help me research a topic?

  2. What are the most important considerations when researching a topic?

  3. What sources should I consult when researching a topic?

  4. How can I evaluate the credibility of a source for research purposes?

  5. Can you provide me with an overview of a particular topic?

  6. Can you help me find expert opinions on a particular topic?

  7. What are some common research methods and techniques?

  8. How can I effectively organize and present the results of my research?

#3 Repurposing Content

Have you ever written a post for one social media platform, only to realize that it's too long for another platform like Instagram or LinkedIn?

Well, now you can paste the text of your post into ChatGPT and ask it "Shorten this text to 2,200 characters while maintaining the tone of the post."

Again, I wouldn't post the result as is, and proofreading is always a good idea, but it's a fantastic baseline for the shorter version of your post.

Here are a few commands you can try out to repurpose your existing content:

  1. Say this in a different way (for…)

  2. Summarize this in one sentence

  3. Turn this into 3 bullets

  4. Rewrite this for ___ (course creators, real estate agents..)

  5. Rewrite this to sell my coaching services

  6. Rewrite and expand on this

  7. Expand on this and turn it into an educational blog section

  8. Rewrite this to sell my services

  9. Turn this into an educational social media post that sells my services

  10. Turn this into an educational social media post that provides value and insights

  11. Reframe this from a new angle

#4 Idea Generation

It can even be used to generate new ideas. This can be useful for marketers and other professionals who are looking for inspiration for new campaigns, products, or services.

For example, a chatGPT could be trained on data about consumer preferences, market trends, and industry best practices, and then used to propose new features for your app or customer acquisition ideas.

In addition to generating ideas, it can also be used to evaluate and refine existing ideas by providing feedback and suggesting ways to improve them. This can help businesses and organizations to more effectively identify and pursue the most promising opportunities.

Example you can ask it to “Give me 10 Superbowl campaign ideas for a cereal brand.”

Here are other commands for you to play with to generate your next biggest idea:

  1. A list of ideas

  2. A list of campaigns

  3. A list of benefits

  4. A list of pain points

  5. A list of...(mistakes, ways, tips, benefits…)

  6. List 3 examples of..

  7. A list of product features

#5 Personalization

It can be a powerful tool for personalizing marketing messages and recommendations, and can help businesses to build stronger relationships with their customers.

For example, the chatbot could be programmed to ask questions about a customer's interests and preferences, and then use that information to make personalized recommendations for products or services. The chatbot could analyze the customer's purchase history, browsing behavior, and ratings and reviews to make recommendations that are tailored to the customer's interests and preferences.

#6 Closing Sales

ChatGPT can even be used to assist with closing sales. You can use it to understand your ideal customer, design your sales page angles, refine your sales emails, breakdown your sales process, address objections and so much more.

You could even program it to provide information, answer questions, and guide potential customers through the purchase process.

Here are just some of the commands you can use to help close your next sale:

  1. Pitch my service

  2. A sales letter about...

  3. A sales email about..

  4. An online course about..

  5. Reasons to buy...

  6. The benefits of buying

  7. The main benefit of…

  8. Promotional copy

  9. Sales page copy

  10. An upcoming workshop on

  11. Sell my <course, coaching, product…>

ChatGPT, like the many other A.I. tools that have been released recently, is a huge step forward and if used properly, can be a tremendous asset for you and your team.

FUN FACT: I wrote this article using ChatGPT, by asking the chat a series of questions and plugging it into the format of the article. It took me a grand total of 15 minutes to complete.
