So last week I got an email from Tamir, who asked me to tear down his sales page.

Tamir, here it is ….

Disclaimer: No feelings were hurt in the making of this teardown.

I personally would change more than 5 things on this page but I’m going to give you the top 5 things.

Change #1: Video

Add a video to the page to explain the product.

In this video - take users through how the product works, who is the product for, the results they can experience, testimonials, the reason to buy now, and they discount/offer for buying from this page.Videos are known to boost conversions by as much as 30%. The thing is not everyone who lands on your page will read every word. In fact, 70% of people will just skim through the page and look for relevant information. A good video has the power to engage these people and convey all the necessary bits of information.

There is a video at the bottom of the page but I would move it up to the first fold.

Change #2:

Scarcity on the top of the page.

Add a countdown timer on the top of the page. This creates a sense of urgency so viewers know they need to act fast or they miss out.

The emotion of missing out on something is more impactful than the pleasure of gaining something, which is why scarcity like limited seats and countdown timers can boost conversions up to 27%

Change #3

More social proof.

Social proof is a psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others. Social proof is one of the most powerful tools you can use because it helps build trust and confidence in the eyes of your prospects.

You can never have enough testimonials. The best types of testimonials are video testimonials but you can even use written ones with images of the people.

The trick here is to make it as raw as possible.

Right now the page has 10 testimonials but you can make it 20.

Change #4

About the instructor authority

To increase the perceived value of the program, you need to build the authority of the teacher.

You can do this by telling people who the teacher is, what have they accomplished, and why they are the best person to teach this topic. Add “as seen on’ badges to show how credible the teacher is. The “as seen on’ alone can boost conversions by 17%.

Change #5

Guarantee and Trust Badges

Make the guarantee irresistable by making it more dramatic. Make your users feel that that don’t lost anything by purchasing. Say something like - as you can see from the testimonials, so many people are seeing profound results like x, x, x, (tell them what they can expect). A whopping 48% of respondents said that trust badges reassure them that the site is secure and trustworthy. The same survey found that 76% of respondents said trust seals affected their sense of trust in a website. In face, VeriSign found that using the Symantec badge increased their conversion rate by 30%. This isn’t surprising, as 17% of customers who fail to complete a purchase do so because of security concerns, so make sure you add trust badges to show users they can trust you and they payment is secure.
